Health Benefits of Flaxseed (Psst! We Sneak It In Your Doughp)

If you’ve ever wondered how we deliver that signature heat-it-or-eat-it Doughp, we’ll let you in on the secret. It’s flaxseed. To make it safe to eat raw, we bind our Doughp together with flaxseed instead of eggs.

This isn’t just great news because it lets you spoonlickers dig straight into the pint. It also means you get a healthy powerhouse snuck into your go-to treat. Turns out, flaxseed is pretty awesome for you.

Here are three things flaxseed brings to the table (or couch — we feel you).

Fiber

Fiber is basically the plumber that keeps the pipes of your body clean. And flaxseed has both types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. And that means it can help with everything from digestion to lowering your cancer risk.

Most people need somewhere between 20 and 40 grams of fiber each day. So your Doughp probably isn’t gonna cover you (although a half-pint of Brownie Beast technically would!). But it’s at least a start.

Omega-3 fatty acids

You might not think of fat as a thing you want, but it’s technically one of the essential nutrients. That means your body straight-up needs it. The trick is to limit the bad types of fat, like trans fats (which is why most of our Doughp flavors have 0 grams of trans fats). Instead, choose the healthy fats that will make you feel your best.

Omega-3 fatty acids are pretty much a role model here. Your body can’t make them but they’re super important for heart health. And guess what? Flaxseed has a bunch of omega 3s.

Health perks

These seeds might be tiny, but they pack a pretty serious health punch. They can help with:

  • Stable blood sugar levels
  • Healthy cholesterol levels
  • Lower blood pressure

And they can support your body’s defense against:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer

Not bad, eh? When we were looking for a good alternative to eggs in our Doughp, we were stoked to find out that flaxseed worked. With these tiny seeds, we have a way to keep our Doughp the perfect consistency while making it safe to eat straight outta the pint. And at the same time, we’re sneaking in a little health boost.

You never need a reason to treat yourself (you’re already worth it, duh!). But juuust in case you were looking for a sign to dig into something delicious, now you know that your next bite of Doughp has some hidden nutritiousness, too.
